Hello all, I am looking for someone who can tell me all the distros that have speakup included regardless fo waht I will be using the distro for.
I also need to know someone who has dealt with Suse linux with either brl tty or speakup or blinux. I have read about blinux, however when I plug my braillenote into the serial port and boot the first cd of open suse 10.2, I get no braille output even though the documentation said that it would automatically detect my display and start the text install.
My issue is that I will be doing a linux course next year and would like to know if I will be needing sighted assistance or I will be able to do it on my own.
I have sent emails twice to the brltty mailing list and have gotten 0 replies each time google it you will get my emails both times with no replies.
My next issue is am i able to make an image of an install and be able to put it on any machine. We're talking all linux here no windows. If so, what imaging software would I use?
Thanks for all help.
Hi, did you open the braille terminal on your bn? At the main menu t, select your serial port and hit enter. Sorry for any errors in this post, JAWS and the firefox edit boxes don't like eachother today.
With regards to suse linux, the braillenote will not work wiht it as an external synth. However I really wish the bn was supported, because it is all I have right now. Even blinux won't detect it. Why can just all use Debian? lol.
It's not that the bn doesn't suport it, it doesn't support the bn. I believe there's an extention for Orca that makes it work with "nearly every braille display known to man" not sure if similar is available for speakup.
but for what I need to do I won't be using orca I will only be using command line. I mgith be able to getmy hands on an old alva display that someone is not using. Hopefully they will say oh just keep it. I need either brltty or speakup. I have been in touch wth Darragh from ireland who orks for novell and he says accessibility is in the stone ages and they will not work wih a certain individual who happens to be the only accessibility specialist in the company.
